KL + PJ skyline in the future

After browsing through all these future developments and crazy but amazing proposals, I guess I never have to wonder if architects in Malaysia are as 'crazy' as Westerners ..or that our architecture would head towards international-standard-urban-intervention..
Good news is, we're actually heading towards modernism but lets all hope the buildings are environment-friendly, well-thought (good planning!), sustainable and low-maintenance (we know how glass buildings are not really cleaned here) haha .. When I found these, I was like, woah, gila lah, we no longer need to face box-like buildings covered with make-up (beautiful facade design) in the future..
Insyallah the rapid development would bring benefits and great remarks from all over the world..
amazing, just 53 years of independence.. (merdeka! merdeka! merdeka!)
I have to say, there is that huge 'wow' factor hidden in some of these images!

Starhill Gallery

Starhill Gallery is one of KL’s destination shopping malls featuring an extraordinary array of luxury shops and fine dining restaurants. The new proposal deals with the reinvention of the facade of Starhill facing Bukit Bintang. Unlike a lot of street facing malls the facade of Starhill is predominantly solid and disengaged from the heavy footfall of shoppers walking along Bukit Bintang. The design is to simply open up the facade to provide a lot of visual interest with a continuous double height shop front along its length. At the road intersection the existing temporary eatery is removed and replaced with an iconic triple height shopping pavilion for the French luxury retailer Chanel.
The design of the new facade and pavilion embodies the quality of the products for sale at Starhill, the lightweight steel and glass facades will be the first of their kind in Malaysia embracing cutting edge glass technology and with specialist engineering by the team that delivered the Pyramid at the Paris Louvre. The crystalline form of the new facade and the Chanel pavilion establishes an iconic new identity for Starhill Gallery reaffirming its position as the foremost destination for luxury shopping in Southeast Asia.

and guess what ?? ............

Le Nouvel @ KLCC

An estimated RM1 billion residential project designed by French architect Ateliers Jean Nouvel will be built near Avenue K on Jalan Ampang. DNP Holdings Bhd, the Malaysian subsidiary of Wing Tai Singapore is the developer for this project, which comprised of two residential towers with 49 and 43 floors of 197 high-end condominiums. DNP Holdings is also the developer of Verticas Residences in Bukit Ceylon and is a clothing manufacturer and the franchise owner of G2000, Canali, Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Warehouse, Karen Millen, MaxStudio, Principles, Pumpkin Patch, Adidas and Nike retail stores in Malaysia.
