poznan, poland

I'm in Poznan, in Poland :)

I am now in Daisy's room, an Indonesian, from Bandung whom is also working with us in the urban design intervention of Poznan. Poznan is a little town in Poland, about 3 hours from the main city, which is Warsaw.

* here are short facts you should know about Poznan!

no. 1 :
it's May, and sepatutnya it should be summer right, but it's still spring in poznan, it's getting colder each day and nobody knows why! it's frustrating that noone here is able to wear sexy outfits to work, cuz if you do, you're just making a fool out of yourself, cuz everyone's wearing leather jacket!

no. 2 :
and oh! MOST OF THEM have the same, boring, black, leather, same pattern, black jacket. it looked nice when i first saw it, then i saw more than 10 people wearing the same damn thing... it annoyed me. like in our country, everyone wears leggings and skinnies..

no.3 :
They celebrated Mothers' Day today, as in on the 26th of june, hmm, i don't know why either. kita sambut 9th may haritu kan? hmm

no.4 :
they have beautiful historical/romantic buildings. you feel like you want to get married here. but please don't, i did not find any mosque here, so tok kadi tuu mungkin susah nak cari?

no. 5:
most women here have short hair. reallly short hair. short funky hair. ok ok and frankly speaking i feel like shaving my left side of hair and put hairwax like them. ahhahhaaha
but i still live with my parents, so maybe not .

historical fact :

According to my Polish friend, the 1956 sculpture was dedicated to the first attack of Polish people towards the Russians, after the World War II. They tried to free the country from Socialists. Before the war, the country was a democratic country, after they managed walk away from the Germans. Unfortunately they were conquered by Russians and ever since then, Poland was no longer running democracy. 1956 was the day the chief of Russian (I think) was killed by Polish people, and it was then marked as the first attack and a big achievement for the Polish. The fight-for-freedom went on and on until 1989; only then, Poland was announced as a Democracy and free country from any power. Only in 2005, Poland was accepted in the Europe Union.

I got all this info from Ryszard, a friend of mine.
